Regal Equestrian Children's and Teenagers Camps

Teenagers and Children's camps are often run at the same time but are kept separate to allow courses to be tailored and appropriate to both age and confidence/experience.  groups run from novice to competitive level.

Teenager horses or ponies are normally kept on the "Top" yard and they have access to the "coffee room" which has drinks facilities and a microwave.  Groups are divided according to experiene and can include teenagers relatively new to riding through to those cimpeting in BE for example.

Camp is designed to initiate individual learning and learning from each other in a social envirnoment.  Groups choose subject areas of interest for thoery or practical sessions which are appropriate to their level.  It may include competition rules, care of a horse during and after a competitions, studs, horse health and lungeing or how to tack up, groom and which rugs a horse should wear or anything inbetween.  There are at least two significant riding sessions per day.  These again are tailored to individual needs and can work on confidence and balance or how to improve horse and rider performance depending on the level.  If desired work towards pony club tests can also be done.

Social events to the Cinema or similar can also be included and if they wish to let their hair down and have some fun a gymkhana or similar too - its really up to them.

2015 Dates:
All camps are 09.30-6.00 except for the 2 residentials.  Earlier drop off can be arranged for day camps (£5).  Residential camps are open to children aged 9 years and over.
Tues 21st - Thurs 23rd July
Sun 26th/Mon 27th (evening)  - Friday 31st Residential
Tues -Thurs 28th -30th July
Tues 4th - Thurs 6th Aug
Sun 9th/Mon 10th (evening)  - Friday 15th Residential
Tues - Thurs 11th - 13th August
Tues 18th - Thurs 20th Aug
Mon 26th - Wed 28th October

Children are supervised throughout camp.  Their ponies are tethered in a covered barn to ensure that children can be watched and that pony care can take place in a safe, secure environment which keeps them out of the extremes of British weather!  Theory sessions, quizes and lunch are all carried out in a mobile home which can be kept warm in colder weather.

Camp is designed to promote learning and confidence in a fun environment.  Small groups of similar age and ability encourage children to learn and inspire confidence.  Over three days in this environment children usually improve massively and are totally enthused.  They ride AT LEAST twice per day and learn about caring for their ponies. Normally they will have a 3rd riding session which will include games or Le Trec, Handy Pony or similar.  For those wanting more serious competition training it can include a dressage or jumping competition practice.

If children are Pony Club members, they can work towards badges or achievement awards.  Social activities which may include bowling, swimming, gymkhana, treasure hunts, little riding competitions or BBQ also help to cement lasting friendships which many keep for years and years.
