foundations for success next year!

Do you want to learn in a friendly social atmosphere?  Clinics range from specialist competition training for the serious competitor (CCI**, BS Foxhunter, BD Advanced Medium levels) to a range of clinics for all levels and specialise in helping adults or children to improve their understanding, technique and confidence.
Details of most courses are on the appropriate tab on the bar on the side of this page.  Most times can be altered a little to help accommodate family commitments.
Please ring or use the Application Form to book.

If the clinic you are looking for is not listed on the calendar, or dates do not suit, please contact Fran.  It is usually possible to organise something to suit.  There are some ideas below the current list of events.

"Horse and Rider Performance"
This is designed to help you maximise your horse's health and performance, or just to help you understand how you and your horse can work better together.  Run by Fran Bird BHSI and Jin Langstone, BEBW, BSc, your horse's movement will be assessed both in hand and under saddle.  Fran taught the Paralympic Dressage team and during this time really developed and understanding as to how to adapt to different bodies strengths and weaknesses to maximise your performance.  Jin uses massage to improve horse's performance throughout England and is regularly asked to travel abroad.  She has an excellent eye for anaysing a horses way of going and spotting small problems which can be sorted out to significantly improve your horse's performance.
Whilst riding your horse's way of going and your position and balance will be analysed to help identify ways in which you could improve performanace.  Your horse's physiological development will be assessed and each horse will receive a"mini treatment" by Jin.  Jin and Fran will together provide you and your horse with training exercises to help enhance your training programme at whatever level.
"Confidence is Key"
The day will concentrate on strategies both mounted and unmounted to help you build your confience.  Techniques such as Mental Rehersal and SMART Goal setting will be included with advise paarticular to your own situation.
Unmounted evening sessions are also available.
Combined Training Days
Separate days/groups are run for adults, teenagers and children.
Each day includes two sessions of riding (usually one flat and one jump, but this can be altered if you do not want to jump), and either stable management, a lecture, lungeing or games for children.  Stable managent topics will be tailored towards what you or the group would like to learn - perhaps conformation, soundness, horse health, different types of tack, using studs or bandaging for example.
One Day Event (ODE) Skills - 1 day

Practice your test riding, riding a show jumping course and arena based XC style fences.  Practice technical fences and combinations.

One Day Event (ODE) Skills - 2 days
